correct air pressure

hello i could use your opinion. i have a 2014 fourwinds class c 26a the sticker in the door from thor motor homes says run 65lbs in all 6 tires when i bought it they were all at 80psi. these are 10ply but should i keep them at 65psi and not 80 psi . 15 lbs i would think would make a big difference in the ride. im trying to guess why the manufacture would say 65 psi . they must have a reason what would you think ?
  • In your original post I see that you have a 2014 Four winds Class C they come on a Ford Chassis or a Chevy Chassis and you didn't say which one it was on so all the posters have assumed it is on the Ford Chassis. So just in case it isn't I will give
you a look at the sticker on a Chevy Chassis

I run 65psi in the front but 75psi in the rear, a little less than the max. After experimenting I found that this is the best combo.

I find that it handles very well. Being on a Chevy Chassis it isn't plagued with the handling problems of a RV built Ford Chassis.
  • Charlestown I don't mean to change the subject but I would like to know more about your rig. Please ref. my last post "Small Class C" after reading all the post that I received I started considering up to a 27' to get a walk around bed. You have the Four Winds 26A on a Chevrolet 4500 correct? Questions!
    1) What is NCC of your rig.
    2) How does the Chevrolet handle. Do like the Chevy so far.
    3) I can't find a 26A in my area to view, does the bed in back fold up when slide is retracted? Is this bed comfortable? Do you still like the overall lay out of the 26A?
    4) Have you experimented with tire air pressure yet? If so what was the results?

I've read where some people can't hardly hold their class C in the road, bad problems when semi passes etc. I would appreciate your input from your experience.

My Chateau was labeled from both Thor & Ford with the tire specs including cold tire pressures. The listed pressures correspond to those recommended by Michelin.

I've never seen 225-75-16 over 65 single on any web sites & usually run around 75- 80 on rear

  • I have stickers on my Four Winds that say 80 psi all around. When I took it to a dealer last year he told me that he usually goes with 80 in the rear and 65 up front. The reason stated was that you would feel every little bump up front if they were at 80 psi.
  • I found that 2006 Four Winds had a recall for incorrect tire pressure stickers. I submitted a question on the Thor site to the service section and found that I should have 80psi all around. when you go on the site they will want your vin and will email you the answer. They have always answered mine.
  • What enblethen said, but until you do I would go with what it says on the door post. Regards, Dick
  • Weight the coach with everything set up as you would have it to hit the road.
Go to tire manufactuer website and get air pressure chart. Add about 5 pounds as a safety margin.
