Thanks for following up with Jeff. I couldn't be happier with their work. The gear change is so much smoother.

I believe the 4000MH with 4 inch sump takes 39 qts of Transynd with a filter change. At $40 a gallon and $60 for filter set you are looking at $450 in materials. I wonder if the low bidders fully realize the capacity of your transmission.
Had a long and brutal battle over this very subject last month at a Cummins shop. Got a quote of $500 for a cooling system service, Allison 3000MH service with transyd, and a state inspection. We confirmed the figure on arrival at the dealer, and added engine oil, full lube and a fuel filter change. At that point we had a "ball park" of $800. The estimate quickly grew to just under a grand and the service writer has the heuvos to stroll into the waiting area two hours later to announce a grand total of $1350. After a long unpleasant negotiation they did everything for $900. I'm not going to out the specific shop, as they made it right in the end, and did great work. However, I wonder how often the low bid on the phone turns into a whole other figure once they start the work? - vegasfoodguyExplorer II

To all who inquired about the Reno dealer it was Smith Allison/Detroit Diesel on Glendale Blvd in Sparks. They do great work, honest and they have some of the best techs I have run into. They service tons of 18 wheelers and really know their stuff. I have used them many times all ways very satisfied! Contact: 775 359 1713, 8 Glendale Blvd. Sparks,NV 89431.
I also use them to service my CAT engine, oil, filters & lube. They really do a better job than all of the big truck stops in the area and no more expensive. Cheaper than CAT dealer. Very meticulous about all the lube fittings.
Thanks for the info. They also have locations in ID, UT & WY. Here's their website Smith Power Products

In Reno it might have been Sierra RV.South Virginia.
Or it could have been Cashman Equipment who handles Cat heavy equipment. They are in Sparks.
I'm interested as well. I understand, Sierra RV, farms out their mechanical work to Nevada Auto Diagnostics, They are good, but not inexpensive. - BobGedExplorer

I guess it could be, as well as other places, but neither one is listed as a dealer on Allison's website
