Found the problem. My husband read all of the great responses here and decided to first take a look at the battery.
And......the battery was low on water. Filled the water, ran the generator a bit, turned it off, and let the rv sit for an hour. Then, he hit the gas/start button, and the fridge turned on immediately.
Thank you so much for saving us a trip to the repair shop.
