Thanks holstein13 for the links. Impossible to see the spider cracks in the photos. Thank you all for your responses. Insurance aside; I think the proper repair in this instance is to replace the entire cap. As was mentioned, no telling what a couple of years of use might uncover. As for diminished value, I have brought that subject up, as has loss of use for trips I had planned in the Southwest this winter. Mostly it needs to be repaired as close to factory specifications as possible.
