crossfire or Catseye

Which system would you go with on your duel wheels? I'm up in the air as to which one is a better system.

We went from the previous owner's rubber valve stems with metal extensions to Borg stems on the rear and metal on the front. Then added air-through caps. MORE than adequate.

IMO you're where you should be already.
  • OK thanks for the replys. I have Borg stems, but was just wondering about the other setups. Guess I'll just keep this setup.
  • Another vote for The Tire Man I have had mine almost ten years and I am on my third set of tires with the same set of long stems. I only add a pound or two of air a couple times a year. I can check the pressure in all six tires in about two minutes.

A big tire shop showed me a system like that, and I can't remember the brand. After chatting about it, they sent me to a truck enthusiast shop that sold Borg "dually valves" and that's what I went with. The big name is Tire Man. Those are a set of six with air-through caps. You can check tires amazingly quickly, and you'll find they don't lose air.
  • We used to run the Catseye system on the fire trucks at work. We finally took them off as they were always leaking via the extension hoses. we tried another brand (don't remember the name)we had the same problem.
  • Hi,

Either will be fine until they malfunction. When they do it leads to two flat tires instead of one.
