My guess is that the brake pedal has a weak return spring and allows the pedal to bounce when you hit a bump and the pedal will press the Brake light switch which in turn turns off the cruise control. It could also be a combination of a improperly adjusted switch clearance between the brake pedal and the switch and a weak or maladjusted return spring. To test the theory You can hold your foot under the brake pedal so it won't bounce and then drive and hit some bumps
