- WILDEBILL308Explorer IIIf you are ordering filters get your fuel, oil and air at the same time. Do you need a filter for the coolant or hydraulic/power steering system?
Bill - dave_from_mesaExplorerThanks for the answers, guys.

Do I need those now? - IvylogExplorer IIII've had good luck finding what I need on Ebay. Why do you think you need a new air filter on a 2011 MH? Is the filter minder in the red or do you have 40K miles on it? I get about 25K miles out of my fuel filters which I change when the MH will not pull a long hill like it should. Since you put the fuel filter on dry it's not hard a thing to do, even on the side of the road.
I would not change the power steering filter or the air dryer filter on a 2011 MH. - ScottGNomadDon't wait until the eng looses performance before replacing fuel filters. You will cause a lot of strain on the fuel pump and can damage the high pressure pump and other parts as well by starving it for fuel.

Really?
I thought you had to fill them first so that there is no air in the system. - IvylogExplorer IIIYES really. Dave, since we all three have Cummins ISL engines, you might want to read up on changing fuel filters on a Cummins. Unlike a Cat, you put it on dry and cycle the key on for 30 seconds several times and then start. If you go outside after turning the key on you should be able to hear the 12V fuel pump running. Mine runs for about 25 seconds before turning itself off.

Depends on the engine. - wolfe10ExplorerYes, depends on the engine AND on the fuel system installed by the chassis maker.
And, on Caterpillar, if you have the (read PROPER) fuel system with primary filter and secondary fuel filter with manual primer pump, you DO install the filters dry and use the manual primer pump to prime.
With no secondary fuel filter/manual pump, you don't have the luxury of doing that and must pre-fill.
