- randallbExplorerRyder Fleet has the best prices on all the filters I have needed for my 6.7 ISB. The air filter for our 08 HR was anywhere from $80 -$95 through most sources. I got the correct Donaldson for $32 delivered. I never found any one cheaper for Fleet Guard filters.

Thanks for the answers, guys.

Do I need those now?
You may not but it is better to have them on hand and not need them. I was under the impression you were doing your annual. Just follow your owner’s manual on maintense. I try to always have some extra filters when on the road.

Ok I can't seem to find anything about changing the fuel filters in either the HR book or Cummins book. Any idea where I can get that info?
Checked the Air flter thingy and it's at 15% not going to change that yet. Fuel filters need to be changed at 25,000 have 13,000 now. Going to change the oil before our next trip. Think they need to be changed at 15,000 but not sure how far we will drive this year. Better safe than sorry.
I have the 8.9 liter Cummins ISL 425. If you go on Cummins Quickserve website and enter your engine serial #, you can get access to the owners manual and service manual for your engine.
Fuel filter change instructions for my ISL are as follows:
1. close valve to primary (fuel/water separator) filter and remove the filter.
2. prefill primary filter and install (Fleetguard filters come with a red cap plug in the center hole to make it easier to prefill the filter. You pour the fuel into the small holes around the perimeter of the filter.
3. remove secondary filter and replace with new filter (install dry).
4. open valve
5. turn ignition switch on (not to start position) for 30 seconds.
6. start engine.
Since my Fleetguard filters come with the cap plug, I plan to prefill both filters because it is easy to do. - IvylogExplorer IIII can only lead you to the answer, I cannot make you go outside and listen for a fuel pump running after you turn the key on.

And, on Caterpillar, if you have the (read PROPER) fuel system with primary filter and secondary fuel filter with manual primer pump, you DO install the filters dry and use the manual primer pump to prime.
With no secondary fuel filter/manual pump, you don't have the luxury of doing that and must pre-fill. - 03_RoadKingExplorer

Since you put the fuel filter on dry it's not hard a thing to do, even on the side of the road.
Really?
I thought you had to fill them first so that there is no air in the system.
Depends on the engine. - IvylogExplorer IIIYES really. Dave, since we all three have Cummins ISL engines, you might want to read up on changing fuel filters on a Cummins. Unlike a Cat, you put it on dry and cycle the key on for 30 seconds several times and then start. If you go outside after turning the key on you should be able to hear the 12V fuel pump running. Mine runs for about 25 seconds before turning itself off.
