Run them until the Cummins shows a loss of power, you'll find you will probably trade the truck prior to needing a filter.
4 trucks over 200k on each, 1 filter.
Yikes. - SlowmoverExplorerTime and miles. I change engine oil, oil filter, fuel and air filters annually. BALDWIIN and the MOPAR revised air filter. I may or may not reach 15k miles per calendar year, but an annual change (truck now at 195k miles/ten years) and carrying spares keeps trouble a little farther away, hopefully. The way the truck is used is the second cosideration. High loads and high heat shorten intervals, for example.
For ones thinking -- to get feelings aligned with same -- it is helpful to consder how long the vehilce will be kept, and approximately how many miles it will accumulate. Slightly more frequent service than book is not expensive considered in this light, and searching out best suppliers allays concerns over reliability.
I don't want the cheapest and I don't necessarily need the most expensive. What I do need is a plan, and to stick to it. Factory intervals shortened somewhat, and quality products sourced solves this problem. The truck will wear in other ways and it is to this that I need pay more attention (not just brakes/tires, but suspension/steering, etc.) as replacement/repair PRIOR to failure is, IMO, the best way to ensure longest-life at highest reliability with lowest cost.
. - BluhornExplorerIt works out well for me,if you want to change sooner good for you. Im not saying everyone should do it. BUT,if you change sooner than when factory recommends your warranty remains in effect.

Some of the replies on here is the reason that I usually do not buy used. Not doing regular maintenance on any vehicle is asking for trouble. I change mine every 10K and I do check for water every month. Spending all that money for the truck and trying to save a few bucks on less filter changing or cutting corners on maintenance is crazy.
I'm curious why 10K? Why not 15K or 5K or the never can be too careful 1K change. :h
I'm sure some would think changing your fuel filter at 10K is cutting corners on maintenance and would never buy your truck because you didn't do regular maintenance. So why is the 10K change just right? - Cummins12V98Explorer III

I like over kill also so what fuel filter do you use?
I use Fleetguard FS19856 from genosgarage.com for $14.98.

Cummins says every 15,000 miles on my 2007 CTD. I think they know more than all of us on this site.

Better to follow sound direction than what some stranger does with his truck. Have you seen some of the junk people drive?

Changed mine for the second time today - I am at 27,000 miles. Did the tie rod recall at the same time. - BluhornExplorerSome of the replies on here is the reason that I usually do not buy used. - retispcsiExplorerIf your truck is still under warranty and you do not and cannot show proof of a filter change at 15k or so Ram may deny your warranty claim. So cheap maintence and a little insurance. I also change oil and filter in 3k to 4k range gas or diesel. Cheap insurance. Oh so far in over 45 years of driving never lost a motor to poor maintence.
- tinner12002ExplorerI always change mine at the start of fall that way I go into winter with a nice clean filter. I don't put 15000 miles a year on it up to this point anyway, but I still change the filter...cheap insurance!
