D.C. Campground

Here are a couple pictures of the campground if it stirs any memories:

I have only stayed at Cherry Hill Park... No reason to stay anywhere else.. Large, clean, close to all , shuttles pick you up at the park for tours...

You are talking about Aquia Pines RV Resort in Stafford VA. Have been staying there since 95 about once or twice a year. Nice park, tell Everett hello.

we have stayed at the KOA at Frederksburg Va. next time we stayed at Cherry Hill Rv park
When at the KOA we rode the Virginia railway express into DC

We stayed at the KOA in Millersville, MD to visit friends in Pasadena a couple of years ago. It was about equidistant to Baltimore and DC, but I have no idea if a train station is nearby, but they do have some wooded sites.

When our daughter lived in the DC area for 6 years during college and after, we stayed at Little Bennett Regional Park in Clarksville MD. We opted for this after fighting the traffic across the top of DC one time to go to Cherry Hill. At the time Little Bennett was much quieter due to less traffic noise and on our way in from the west. Plus it was less than 1/2 the price of Cherry Hill and still is.

As I remember, yes. We drove to the closest train station and rode to the Mall. Looking a the current Metro maps on the Internet, the end of the gray line (Weihle-Resten) Click here is the closest station on the Dulles Access Road (highway 267), and according to the maps, looks like it might be less than 3 miles from the campground to the Metro stop.
