- twainharteartisExplorerThanks I have a seal that's puking out oil. I haven't climbed under the motorhome yet been working a lot of hours. I will check it out tomorrow to see if it's the front or(I hope)the rear seal. Left a trail of oil for about a mile.
I checked it out and it's the front seal. I have it set to get repaired. After talking to the Transmission shop they said that the E40 is known for blowing the front seal. They will drill out the bypass passage that will keep it from doing it again. So if you are reading this because you are having the same problem that is the fix to keep from blowing out your front seal in the future. - ddndougExplorer^ What Dutch said... E4OD.
Doug - Dutch_12078Explorer IIMost likely your Intruder is built on a Ford F53 Stripped Chassis, and is equipped with a Ford 460 CI(7.5L) V8 engine powering an E40D electronically controlled 4-speed transmission. The chassis may actually be a 1996 model year. The VIN can tell you that.
