Dash radio

Radios always draw from the batteries, either the house or the chassis depending on the coach builder.

Most likely the radio works off of the chassis battery. If the battery is fully charged, it would take several days for just the radio to discharge the battery. Do you have an auxiliary start feature that lets the house battery assist the chassis battery for starting?

The in dash radio usually is connected to the engine (chassis) battery. Don't know what MH you have, but many have a switch on the dash that is used to switch the radio operation from one battery (either chassis, or house). We have always owned Winnebago MHs and they have this radio battery source switch. Good luck-- Mick

Just as a point of reference, my dash radio is connected to the house battery (only). The connections vary from builder to builder and maybe even from motorhome to motorhome. It's pretty easy to figure out how it's connected if you have a house battery disconnect switch: if the radio stops working with the house battery disconnected (and the converter not operating), then it's obviously connected to the house battery.

If it's connected to the chassis battery, you could just get and install a Trik-L-Start or Amp-L-Start and be all set. I very much doubt that the typical standard dash radio would draw over 5A average in normal use, even though it may do so momentarily.

My MH has a switch on the dash that toggles between house and chassis batteries.

But it really depends on my dogs tail when she sees me coming up the stairs. Sometimes it's house and sometimes it's chassis.

My coach uses the house batteries for the radio and there is no switch.

My Damon runs on the House batteries.
My old Allegro ran off the Chassis batteries.

Mine was running oh the chassis battery SO I REWIRED IT to run on the house batteries. It took all of 20 minutes to rewire it.
