Dead Batteries
My 4 coach batteries are dead and hence won't start the generator. Is it OK to use a portable jump starter on them to crank/start the generator?

If your batteries are "Dead", then I would try to put a battery charger on them for at least 4 hours, as I don't believe you will be able to jump start completely dead batteries without putting some charge back into them first. Running the main engine should charge the house batteries while its running.
