Decision making help.....

We are looking at Fleetwood Discovery G, Newmar bunkhouse, and Tiffin QBA. I know they are not the same....Finding the Newmar bunkhouse is a little harder to find. Tiffins are pretty plentiful. Discovery G are not so plentiful either. Comments please...

Gasser..came on either Ford or Workhorse chassis...if workhorse chassis make sure brake recall has been done...widely available info about that..even a workhorse site where you input the VIN and it tells you whether done or not...Tiffin Allegro ...decent unit plus Tiffin stands behind it if you are willing to go to Red Bay...there were a few issues with basement floor and roof...Newmar, really can't go wrong there..they build a nice unit....and Fleetwood Discovery is a decent diesel pusher but some of them had electric leveling jacks that drove people crazy...the boot of the jacks would get water in it and thus make the jacks go bonkers...I have a friend who traded his Discovery in just because of that...find the floorplan you want and go from there...that's the most important for your own sake, otherwise your better half will always get on your case...:E

The choice is yours, both are good units. The floor plan should be a very strong consideration. You will hear a lot of comments about Tiffin such as the quote above. Yes Tiffin does stand behind their product for many years to come. They have replaced items on our 05 which were as much as 7 years old. Those with problem bay floors will be repaired for no charge no matter how old your unit is. A lot of people believe that you need to take it to Red Bay for repairs. That is not the case. You can get repairs at any Tiffin dealership. If you want to buy one and there is not a dealership in your area they will set one up for you. If you are traveling and if repair is needed in an area without service coverage all you need to do is call and they will authorize getting it repaired where you are. Yes a lot of people take theirs to Red Bay. That is because they are one of the few manufacturers what will work on anything that they have every manufactured at a 68 plus bay shop close to the plant. Their work is quality work and they do it at a fair, reasonable charge. We personally like Tiffin but there are other good coaches out there. Good luck with your search.
  • It was a 2009..but the thing to look at is the Atwood leveling electric jacks...If the coach has the Atwood leveling electric jacks rather than another brand hydraulic..those were the ones where water would get in the electrical boot connection and cause havoc...I do believe Tiffin used them too but only for a short time..so it's not so much the coach as it is the brand/type of leveling jacks used ..it was Atwood electric....that thing drove him nuts and he ended up trading for a Forest River Charleston...now he is looking at a Thor Tuscany....and is about to trade it in

  • Sorry...Tiffin is Allegro gasser. Newmar could be either gasser or the ventana. Model years are 2010 or 2011.

We need a bit more information..Need the floorplan, whether a gas or diesel, Fleetwood Discovery is diesel..Newmar could be either / or and Tiffin uses the QBA (is it an Allegro or a Phaeton)...and if a gasser, is it on a workhorse or a Ford chassis?...the year would help too ,
  • General RV inventory shows about 10 Discovery G units and 4 Tiffin QBA. http://www.generalrv.com

Very similar choices to where we were four years ago.
