Did I just Get Lied To?

5 days ago I purchased a 2019 Thor Chateau. 24’ on a Mercedes Sprinter. The salesperson at La Mesa RV told me that these coaches no longer have to be level in order to keep the refrigerator running properly! He was emphatic about it, yet I can find nothing on the Internet to back this up.
I currently own a 2005 National Dolphin, so I’m not a newby to motor homes... but did this salesperson lie to me? I don’t take possession of it for two weeks, thankfully! Thanks in advance for any input!
  • Even the older RV's didn't have to be "perfectly" level. Be reasonable. Think like a carpenter, well . . . . , a rough carpenter doing piece work who's in a hurry and needs to make a boat payment. Half a bubble here or there isn't going to be the end of the world.

When leveling, just do the best you can. If you're rolling out of the bed at night, (due to excess slope) you need to do better.

  • 2019 Thor Chateau Sprinter 24BL & 24WS both have a standard RV Absorption Fridge

    Look under 'Kitchen' section

Looks like a Dometic 2 door

As with ANY Absorption fridge it needs to be reasonably level when operating while stationary

    Salesperson was 'mistaken' :B
Have them put it in writing on dealership stationary that level is no longer required :S
  • If it's a residential fridge then no, level not important but if it's the traditional type, then yes, level is still necessary. Not as important as it was 20 years ago but the new ones still need to operate close to level.
  • Most likely, that new RV comes with a compressor refrigerator, so no, you did probably did not get lied to.
