Summer is almost over - most people consider Labor Day as the end of the season.Did you get all those trips in you planned for this summer? I know I didn't get to travel as much as I was wanting to. Business has a way of interfering with those plans. ;)So were did you go this summer? Where did you want to go, but it didn't work out?

In our neck of the woods, travel around here picks up after Labor Day.

Definitely NOT. Early June we started off for San Diego following the old US 99 through Washington and Oregon. We made an number of side trips to photograph wooden covered bridges in Oregon. We reached the California northern border with temperatures around 98F. Experienced the same problem as the previous aborted trip to San Diego - loss of 4th & 3rd gears, ABS light on, speedo reading zero. In Yreka, 104F, the problem thought to be heat related. In Redding, 108F, DW & RT had enough. We headed for the coast where it was 54F and returned to Canada without even a suggestion of the problem. The problem was eventually diagnosed as the Vehicle Speed Sensor, which was replaced. So far, we have had no re-occurrence, nor have we had any really hot weather. Currently we are in Ontario, by way of BC, AB, SK, ND, SD, MN, IA, IL, IN, MI and headed for Quebec.

Was a great summer trip. 12,540 miles in 2.5 months. Alaska, BC, Alberta, NWT, and Yukon were the new destinations for us. No flat tires, no windshield chips, no problems. 1,114 gal of gas, average 11.25 mpg. Five trips on the Alaska Marine Hwy. It was close to what we planed, no big surprises.We have at least one more two week trip in October. Labor Day means the end of 100 degree days.

Read your post and talked DW into Jeep day trip to Yellowstone park to have lunch and see old faithful. Haven't been up there in a couple of years. Raining here at 5000 ft. May be snow up there. Nice to be close for fun trip.

Better than my wildest dreams!!! :BI'm still on a 4-month roadtrip, finally heading East but still have a lot ahead: Glacier NP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP. Currently in beautiful North Cascades NP. It would be impossible to pick a favorite from the cities to the beaches to the mountain peaks. What a great country!

No. Too many visitors--non-campers who love Vancouver Island.Enjoy September through October so now packing for first trip to Campbell River.

NO! My wife of 55 years passed away 5-30. We had planned a trip to Colorado for train rides on Narrow Gauge steam trains and a lot of sightseeing. Being partially handicapped I bought a RoadTrek and will sell the Mountain Aire that has 6 steps up that give me the problem. I can still drive. Leaving Tue for a short trip and a longer one after 10-11.

We had to cancel 2 trips this summer. One at a CG north of Ft Bragg for a week and the other at Sequoia National Park. We had the grandkids all summer but when DH gets painting work, he has to do them. We'll try again next summer if we have the kids again.

Finally visited P Allen Smith place in AR. Going again in September, it is beyond fabulous.

Just back from Grand Bayou Resort in Coushatta LA www.grandbayouresort.com

It is a wonderful campground with lots of space, shade, paved roads and paved level sites. The personnel and campers are easy going and friendly. It's 30 mins from Natchitoches, a nice tourist town.

Of course there was a fly in the ointment at the campground, and it was a Chinese generator, fired up continuously except during quiet hours. I think the campground would have addressed the issue (I recorded the racket and took it to the office), but we just left a day early. It is beyond rude and selfish to run those generators!! There is NO excuse. Grrrrrrr!

A double Knee replacement July 7th put a halt to all our plans. At best we are hoping for a Surf Fishing trip to Flagler Beach in October. Right now I have very limited range in the knees.

We took our month long trip to the Pacific NW visiting friends, relatives and national parks on the way. Milwaukee to MN, SD CG right on Mighty Missouri, Mt. Rushmore, Custer state park, CG right in Badlands, Black hills, SD, WY, DH went to night rodeo (shuttle from KOA), 2 nights right in Yellowstone at only CG with hookups. We were very lucky to get those with no reservation. On thru MT and we find out fires will prevent us from visiting friend in Tonasket, WA near Canadian border so we head to Seattle visit rest of her family. Then drive thru Olympic Rain Forest to camp on Long Beach, WA with 10 min walk over dunes to Pacific Ocean. We cut back over mountains to Terrebonne, OR to visit friend, then skirt south ID to avoid forest fires but visit Craters of the Moon NP absolutely fabulous. Heading east we visit battleground of little big horn (MT) and stay at KOA at foot of Devil's Tower WY, then heading home staying again at American creek CG right on the Missouri. On the way going west starting in Missouri there was this incredibly sweet smell that we traced to the blooming of the sweet yellow clover. The RVan was trouble free all 6k miles and I learned to downshift the automatic going up and down steep inclines. My DH loves his little tear drop trailer which is now mothballed inside an RV storage place for the winter.

I was hoping to head to Door county or Superior, WI but DH was too busy getting ready for school(HS teacher) but I will head to MI for aunts birthday in early Oct. Then I head for Florida in December for a couple months avoiding WI winter.
