diesel particulate filter

I have a 2009 safari cheetah 42..it has a cat diesel. .26k miles...we drove to orlando and the diesl particular filter light came on then shut engine off was able to restart and get to a cat service center...they reset computer basically by running engine at high rpm...we left there and continued for 8 more hours...the light came on ond off 3 more times...I have looked at owners manual and the people that had it before us had same problem..several things about the filter circled...does anyone know how to deal with this...need some direction on what I need to do before next trip.
Thanks for any help that can be given

Are you doing a lot of idling? That will cause it.

Not really I was pushing it pretty hard running about 75 - 80....I lost power then engine shut off was able to go again but this thing has me stumped would like to figure out how to fix or service and figure out if it does happen how to repair on the road. ..thanks for the reply
  • On the pickups a lot of people are taking their trucks to a diesel shop and having them "delete" the DPF (diesel particulate filter) and also removing the extra emissions stuff. You might not want to consider that if you live in a place where they do emissions tests or inspections. Up here in Montana people do it all the time on their trucks. I don't see how it would be much different on a MH.
