Differences between Freightliner Chassis?

I thought the Freightliner chassis used for the entry level diesels were all the same. Much like the gassers are all Ford 53's chassis.

I find out I'm wrong and there are at least three. Freightliner XCR, XCS & XCM. What are the differences and do they really make a difference?

  • I found this. The XC is a base model and then the letter behind it is the type of chassis.

    XCR = Raised Rail

    XCS = Spring

    XCM = Module Chassis

  • Different engines
    Different transmissions
    Side vs rear radiator
    Straight vs IFS front suspension

    Not really fine print.

    If there are two specific coaches/chassis you want to compare, can point out the differences (unless they are on the exact same spec chassis of course). What do you want to compare?
  • I downloaded the information on each chassis, I didn't realize they were "coach specific". What am I to read from them that tells me the differences?

    Wolfe10 said "You bet, lots of differences" but how do I tell the difference?
  • Wolfe10, the link takes me to a blank page.

    Just checked it with my laptop and it works fine. Just didn't work on my iPhone!
