I agree with you on the liability side. On the other side, that is governed by the contact. Like I hope I said, Im on your side. You should be compensated by the party causing your loss. My opinion. That an a dollar might get you a coffee, probably not amymore.

What I am trying to do is not lose money because I now own a coach that has been devalued because of someone else's bad driving. Would you pay top dollar for a vehicle that has been in a collision? Being repaired is not being in the same position prior to the collision. The accident was not my fault. Why should I take the loss?

Well this is something the Ins Co are trying to not have come into play in AZ. So far from what info has come my way what you are asking for is money above your repairs. Thats how the opposition is portraying it. I have heard of some getting it on the liability side like yours. I had one customer come after it from am uninsured accident, under collision and didnt get it thst way.

I'm in AZ which recognizes DV. They also say you must disclose any accident the vehicle has been in when you sell (I would anyway). This really puts you very low on the list for selling the vehicle. Like maybe last.

You'll find a lot of information on-line. I looked for certified vehicle appraisers in my area. There were a number locally who advertised doing diminished value appraisals and a few of those who do RVs. Then I did some research on customer satisfaction of prior clients.
The company I hired did the inspection, wrote a detailed report providing analysis of fair market value of motor home prior to, and after, the collision, and provided a sample demand letter to send the insurance company. They also offered advice regarding how to proceed and what to expect. I believe I paid under $800 and it was some of the best money I've ever spent.

Not sure what your insurance laws are, but the basic premise in liability is to return you to the state you were in before the accident. Good luck and fight, but you were right, you've got work to do. Hopefully you have a full service agent you can start your research with. If not and also, your state department of insurance might be able to help.

Thanks for the information. FYI it's the other guy at fault. About 45K damage to 2008 Discovery 40X. 7K in steering suspension. The rest fiberglass and slide out alignment. I best start doing my homework.

The summer before last my 2008 Winnebago Vista was struck by a vehicle while parked in front of my residence. There was $12,500 damage done to the motor home. After the Winnebago was repaired I had a professional appraisal done and sent a demand letter for compensation, for diminished value, to the drivers insurance company. I had sought advice from my attorney who advised that the amount of damages weren't sufficient to warrant paying him to handle it for me.
The process was not fun and entailed a number of back and forth communications with the insurance over a period of 9 months. They tried to settle with me quickly for an amount much less than the real damages but I stuck to my guns and was adamant that I would be "made whole". In the end I received compensation for not only diminished value but "loss of use" as well. The amount of the settlement wasn't the amount I originally requested but MUCH more than their original offer and definitely enough to make the "battle" and time investment worthwhile.
As I learned, the diminished value laws vary by state and many states do not allow claims for diminished value against your own insurance company.

2 hondas side by side, how much less will you pay for the 1 in an accident. By the way, if this is your insurance company fire them. If its the other party's and its enough of difference hire a lawyer. You should be entitled to ACV just before the accident! Dont settle for less. 30 yr insurance agent in AZ.

Basically the amount and type of damage is what determines the reduction in value. Damage that involves any of the structural portions of the RV would hurt the overall value more than something like a minor scratch on the side.
