Dingy

What's the simplest vehicle to use as the dingy. It can't be to small cause I'll have trouble clinbing in and out of it. A jeep may work but don't know if they can be towed and do they have to be a manual trans.

Thanks Jerry
  • We (Jeep) have 4 wheel down towing available on Liberty, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, and even the new Cherokee.
  • We tow a 07 jeep wrangler, no problems, place the transfer case in neutral, unlock the steering, and go.

I tow a '06 Jeep Liberty. It is an automatic trans. Pulls easy and rather light. Lotsa Space.
  • If getting in and out needs to be easy it is hard to beat a smart car. Huge doors and a high seat. Might want to check them out.
  • A Suzuki Grand Vitara might meet your needs. They are not made anymore but if you can find a used one, 4- wheel drive only, not all wheel drive, check it out and see if its adequate for your entry/exit. I'm 240 lbs and its very easy for me to enter and exit.
  • We tow a 2008 Chevy Colorado pickup truck. 4 door, 4 wheel drive. Easy to set up and easy to tow. Button on the dash puts the transfer case in neutral.
FMCA or Motorhome magazine has a Dinghy towing guide that tells all the vehicles that can be towed. http://www.fmca.com/images/stories/pdf/towing_2013.pdf
