Dish Tailgater

I purchased the tailgater only to discover it is not compatible with my Dish DVR receiver. Apparently you need the receiver without the DVR function. So now I'm on the hunt for a portable dish that is compatible with my receiver. Any suggestions? Model number DuoDVR® ViP 722k
  • Jim,

We've had both and greatly prefer the Tailgater. With the Carryout, you have coax plus a power cable. On the Tailgater, it is just coax. This makes it easier to run the Tailgater a good distance away if need be. Plus, the Tailgater is far more "user friendly".

I suggest you switch receivers. If not, I have a factory refurbished Carryout that I will sell you. We won't be using it.

The Carryout is much more flexible than the Tailgater though. It works with a variety of receivers for Dish, Direct, and Bell, as well as working with both the Dish eastern arc and western arc birds. The larger dish area should also make it somewhat less susceptible to weather related signal loss.
  • I also have the 211k, tailgater & an external hd as dvr. I can watch over the air tv while the dvr is recording & do it frequently. This is really a sweet system. It is definitely NOT a downgrade.
