Why don't the ones posting we need more regulations on MH drivers contact your Legislators and tell them they could charge $200 to $300 extra for a MH endorsement. They would jump on it in a heartbeat. All they have to do is hire more Inspectors to issue these permits. We need more Gov. employees and you will weed out about 1/2 the people now driving MH's. By the way, have you tried to renew your standard DL lately. Taking all day long (8 hrs.), most of it in the waiting room is not un-common. Now you have to bring in every piece of proof you have (ssi card, birth cert., voters card, etc.)unless you are a illegal alien then you go to the head of the line. So maybe you could be required to bring proof of paying taxes on the MH so the Inspector could see that you payed the proper amount. There are fewer MH drivers out there than drunk drivers. Why don't you concentrate your efforts to something that makes sense? :h
I renewed last winter...took me about an hour and a half. The only difficulty involved was having to go to the main office (rather than the nearby branch).
Any RV should require exactly the same licence to drive that would be required to drive a truck of the same GVWR. Yes, that DOES mean the large DP's would require a class B CDL! That DOES mean the guys towing their 43' Mobile Suites with a Kenworth would need a class A CDL! And yeah, I'm fine with that! Honestly, the fact that someone can drive a 40,000lb Prevost conversion the day after taking a half-baked, one-mile "road test" in a Honda Civic scares me!
I am happy what you think does not matter. Put those regulations inforce and see what happens to the MH market. You will definitely be safer because there will be fewer MH's out there to cause accidents. I for 1 will be gone and I have not had a accident in 30 yrs.
Fine by me. It is quite simple: if you cannot operate your motorhome safely, PARK IT!
