Do not Lock your Hitch

I don't know if this is still the case or not, but many years ago when I was an insurance adjuster there were companies that wrote exclusions into their policies that said they would not cover a theft if you left your keys in the car. In most toads you have to leave your keys in the car in order to keep the steering unlocked. So if you don't have the toad locked to the motorhome it would be about a two minute process for somebody to unhook it, break a window to get in, and be gone with your toad. Just something to consider. Of course if you have a policy that excludes coverage if you left your keys in the car, even if you do lock it to the motorhome you've still left your keys in the car. Any current insurance people out there know if this is still a common exclusion in insurance policies?
