The reason for my posting is, that only lock your hitch during the night or when the Motorhome and Tow is unattended for a longer period of time. When you drive there is no reason to have a LOCKED hitch pin.
As for the Insurance, my Tow was a Saturn Vue 2006 with 67.000 miles and you never get the real replacement value of the loss. Most Insurances only cover up to $ 200 for personal items left in the car which is not enough to cover a GPS, spare Prescription Glasses, Jackets etc. Also just to walk away and let this thing burn was not an option due to the money invested. Yes me to, at any rest stop and before driving I checked the hitch and tires and connections, a standard routine procedure. Running the engine every 200-300 miles is to circulate the transmission oil through the system, even so it is not mentioned in the owners manual.:@
