Do not use awnings in heavy rain?????? Really???

So out shopping for a new motorhome looking at Gas to pushers read the owners manual on a new Tiffin Red as wife likes the 37 PA and it tells me to put the awning away in a rainstorm ? I live in Wash...

My two awnings are electric and they can be adjusted for height and tilt. No need to get a manual model. As long as there is no wind, I keep them extended.
