I certainly understand your disappointment. I think there is probably a misconception about RV awnings that the manufacturers are really not very clear on, but it becomes apparent once you use one - they are not deigned to shed rain (although they do --- some), they are actually designed to produce shade. It takes a while to get that concept switched in your head.
