I didn't carry one for years. Earlier this year my door awning would not retract, and I was boondocking in Anza Borego. Long story short, I had to drive and find someone who had a ladder so we could close it and ziptie it closed so I could get back home. I now carry one. I may not need it again, but it sure beats not having one and needing it.
I bought this one 7' double sided ladder as you never know when you need 4 hands. I doubt it is recommended to have 2 adults one it, but when you need another set of hands I will chance it.
