Here was our progression in the RV world... 24ft TT --> 35ft FW --> 40ft TH (toy hauler) --> 35ft DP. I don't care what anyone says, I will never go to anything longer than maybe a 36ft DP. When the RV manufacturers get smart, which I doubt they will ever do, they will produce a 36ft DP w/a tag axle. These days you don't necessarily need a 45ft job unless you are rich and want to keep up with the Jones's. RV's start to get like houses, but only more maintenance, more money, more depreciation! Look at your long term goals in RV'ing and figure out what size will fit your lifestyle.
We have walked into many, what I call, whoppers. They are nice, they are big, they are usually the most luxurious. Then you have to step back, think about it for a minute and say to yourself, do I really need all this? I can do the exact same thing someone in a 45 footer can do. I have a king bed in my 35 footer and a washer dryer, yeah! Will I have to watch my holding tanks a little closer, yes. But when I am on full hookups which is what the majority of RV'er are, then I am in the same neighborhood as the 45 footer. That's the beauty of RV parks, you can be next to a tent on one side and on the other there sits a Prevost!
