OP, from some of your previous post and since you will be retiring in 2016, selling the S&B and going FT you need to be looking at 40' or longer. 12 years ago I made the mistake of buying a used 36' DP as "that is the biggest for SP, NP, USFS, COE, BLM". Took less than a year to realize that's not true so traded for a used 40' single slide. Once we were able to use it more than 120 day/year decided on a slightly used four slide 42' although I built my MH bay long enough for a 45'. As half timers that stay mainly in NP, SP, USFS, BLM CGs out West we love our 42' as it has plenty of water for boondocking. The trick for finding sites big enough without reservations is to show up Monday, not Friday. We snowbird for three months and will not be downsizing as I've been told it's cheaper than a divorce. I also love how well the tag axle coach's handle.
I like the saying about FTing... twice the husband on 1/2 the income and in 1/10th the space or in a 36'... 1/15th the space. Good luck
***Having read your latest post above your #3 concerns me. Do not decide on the size by the amount of money you want to spend... buy something a little older and LONGER and yes I agree with paying cash for our toys.
