We looked high and low for a shorter DP from about 2003-2005. I asked many dealers why they didn't have many/any 36'-38' coaches in stock. The answer was always that they were not popular. In the same breath, they would acknowledge that the minute they got one in, it sold immediately.
This is exactly what we experienced. We watched the web sites, contacted dealers, and could not find a DP in the 36'-38' range. Every time we found one, we called and it was sold! We finally watched the websites DAILY. When the ad for the coach we currently own came on RVTrader, we called that same day. The owners were shocked when we wanted to drive to Detroit the next day to see it. We put money down on it that day.
They are hard to find in that size range because they seem to be so popular.
Don't be afraid of the older coaches. There are a lot of them out there that have been hardly used. Ours had 16K miles on it when we bought it. Everything runs like a dream. It was well maintained.
