I don't feel anyone can suggest what you should buy. Everyone has different ways of RVing and needs.
We've full-timed for 16 years. Our first RV was a 33' 5th wheel which was plenty big for us for 8 years. In need of replacing it we decided on a motorhome so we could tow a Jeep. We test-drove different sizes and the 40' had the best wheelbase so it handled much better than the shorter ones. If the same would have been so with a shorter one, that's what we would have bought.
Personally, we don't need a lot of inside space as we're very active and are outside most of the time. We volunteer for national and state parks which is outside surroundings.
More slides don't give you more usable room. They just give you more floor space. We don't ballroom dance so we don't need the floor space. :) More slides also takes away from the basement storage space. We purposely wanted only two slides because we use public parks or boondock 90% of our time. We need to fit our slides in a campsite amidst trees. We didn't want a washer/dryer because of dry camping the majority of time. We definitely don't need two bathrooms for the two of us. We're good at sharing. We've full-timed in it for 8 years and both the 33' 5th wheel and the 40' motorhome have worked great for our purposes and we've never had problems finding a site in public parks.
Just because you full-time doesn't mean you have to go to the longest size. We know full-timers in small Class B vans and it works for them. It all depends on YOU and what YOU need. Have fun planning your new lifestyle. We've loved it.
