While I appreciate the large it is my preference to be able to have an easy and enjoyable drive. We travel far and hard though. Sometimes 500-600 miles in one day. Once, 900 miles (not by choice but emergency). It's good to feel like you are in an oversized pickup with those kind of miles.
Chris I rarely disagree with your posts, BUT I disagree a lot on this one. Having owned every type of RV other than a TH I like driving my 42' BIG the best. You are higher up so you can see better, winds/trucks are not a problem, and the DW (tinny bladder) can bring me (camel bladder) something to drink or eat without stopping. This summer when I-29 was closed because of flooding we changed our destination to the Tetons. Had not plan on doing 1900 miles in 48 hours, but not that hard when you have all the comforts of home with you. Left GA at 7PM and slept north of Nashville and west of North Platte.
Two summers ago I delivered a Class C to AK (3800 miles) and while I was impressed with how much better they now handle I would not want to do 500 miles/day in it.
***OP, for FT you need to check the CCC of any rig your are considering before buying. It should be posted in a cabinet somewhere. It's easy to want to put 3000 lbs of stuff in one.
