Does the engine alternator charge house batteries?

Hi Guys, thanks for your support and ideas. I called Monaco today, with my VIN, they said that it is equipped with exhaust restriction brake.

Call Cummins (my post above). They can tell you exactly where the serial number is located.

Monaco could also look up the engine serial number for your-- call them with your VIN:

Thanks, guys. My preliminary look at the engine revealed two things:

1) I do not see the serial number on top, or on the sides, of the engine, as I would expect
2) I do not see the exhaust brake, and I think that the engine has compression brake.

As this stuff is safety critical, I want to be sure that I know how it works.

Yes, as I said, the ISL could be ordered with either an exhaust brake or engine compression brake.

I have a "Cummins ISL 370". Any comments?

What kind of brake your have depends on what engine you have.

ISL (8.9 liter) was the smallest engine that could be ordered with an engine compression brake (could also be ordered with an exhaust brake).

All larger engines have engine compression brakes, smaller ones exhaust brakes.

I have one unrelated question: This Windsor Monaco 40 PST has auto trans and a "Engine Brake" button.

The engine brake does work on long downhills.

However, I am not sure what it means: does it mean a "Jake Brake" (pneumatic), or just using a higher gear to slow down the RV with the engine and transmission?

ALL motorhomes except 1 model of the old Alfa charge both banks from the chassis alternator. On Monaco, the lower lines did not have the Shore power chassis charge module, but, you could buy the module from Monaco and plug it into the LF storage fuse panel, as it had the quick connect and a spot to mount it. "ichudov"......You bought a fantastic coach. When the crash occurred in 2008 and people were bailing out of their motor homes, the Windsors were a hot item and people grabbed them up. Hello, this RV was made in 2004. It is in surprisingly good shape for its age, because the owner kept it inside his warehouse. It does have an inverter system, which I have not been able to look at closely, but it looks like a Xantrex.
