Domectic refrigerator operation

I appreciate the help on the other topic, just curious about the refrigerator running on gas.

Does it use a lot of gas?

What things do you have to be careful about when using it?

Any tips would be great.

  • I have it running the pilot is on and I can here gurgling sounds in the system so its doing something LOL.

It has 7 temp settings and I set it on position 4 just to see what it does.

I've never used the refrigerator before, I've had the camper for 2 years and been so busy just a couple weekend trips, so I used a regular cooler.

The camper is in good condition and the previous owner assured me it works.

How long does it take to cool down? what should I expect time wise for it to get cold?

Thanks I really do appreciate the help

  • uses hardly any gas. I've a small fridge, about half the size of a standard single door household fridge. We've taken a couple 7 week trips across country, and alternating between propane and electric while running on gas all day on the road and at night in campgrounds, we used up a 20 lb tank for fridge and cooking on each trip.

Your furnace is the major propane hog.
  • Rv absorption fridges use small amounts of propane to function.
Main flame is about the size of a pilot flame.
