dometic duo therm a/c heat pump

I need to replace the dometic duo therm model 630515.321 in an 04 Alpine Coach. Anyone know if these units are still available or is there a replacement unit that will fit without mods. The unit has ducts and has a dometic comfort control center.

"ddstoval"......Try PPL Parts. They have parts for the Dometics and different models. They will also help you match up to what you have. You might also think about bumping up to a 15K if yours is a 13.5K predominately used in your era of coach.

You didn't say what was wrong with yours. Mine was only blowing hot air. They commonly have reversing valves that are easily replaceable that go bad. For about $50-$60 you can buy many of the common parts (start capacitor, reversing valve) from PPL to tune up the old unit.

Reversing valves are NOT an available part from Dometic. The ELECTRIC COIL that engages the reversing valve is the only available part. Doug
  • only blowing hot air. Looks like we have to buy a new one. Changed control board and no luck. Tech said looks like freon leak. Compressor won't cut on. Looks like the next stop for a week will be in Las Vegas. Anyone have any recommendations for good RV service in Las Vegas area that might have one in stock or be able to get one quickly? Looking for Penguin II low profile 13,500 BTU. Camping World says 4-6 weeks delivery for AC unit.

  • yes, we just checked into replacing our 630215.321 and found that Dometic makes a Penguin II AC with Heat Pump that fits the standard 14" opening. Dometic part number 651815C for the multi zone ducted unit. more info: https://www.dometic.com/2664aef6-0859-4c05-93f2-f4e20fecbb1a.fodoc
    or call Dometic.
Note: we found that since we have 2 AC's and a Comfort Control Center thermostat, we would either need to upgrade the thermostat to a Comfort Control Center II and replace the control board in the older AC to work with the new thermostat, or Dometic makes a kit to convert the new AC to work with the old thermostat. Kit number 3313107.107 - $107.18.
We now think that the control board is bad in the AC and we may not have to replace the unit after all. We'll know tomorrow.
you could try www.pplmotorhomes.com in Houston TX and click on their parts link on their first page. We found the AC there was on sale and you can call them with any questions.
