I used to work for a railroad and I've heard of younger engineers running down in the nosecone to the latrine while underway and back up before the alerter needed to be reset, about 20 seconds. If the alerter is not reset, the brakes go into full application and the black box alerts (downloads to) authorities that the engineer failed to do his/her job.
There was the case of a female engineer who put in a union claim and complained to her Road Foreman that she was splashed by thee blue fluid by rough track. She was promptly fired which is probably just as well regarding her IQ.
Of course I would never chance a lack of legal attention. If necessary, I would have stopped all 32 million pounds to accomplish the task, only to restart and eventually again reach speed, wasting gallons and gallons of fuel (est @ least 30).
Besides, by the time I hit 60 years old, I would have never made it back to the control console before the 20 seconds was up.
