Door awning won't close

Getting ready to leave RV park this AM and wet to retract my A&E Oasis Elite power door awning ,heard motor but awning didn't move. Eventually got my ladder out and forced it shut and taped up so that I could get on the road. Any ideas where to start trouble shooting?
