We were very happy with the front door and we did sit across from each other. The front door gives you a lot more room and cabinet space in the living area and your 'house' doesn't seem chopped up. We had one step outside and two steps inside - not a big deal. No problems with the step if not level.
With the two front driver and passenger seats swiveled around when parked we were able to fit 12 people sitting down for a happy hour when the temp was too cold outside. Those two seats, two separate recliners, a full-size sofa, four at the table with one extra card table chair. We didn't have to worry about falling into the mid-door hole area.
