If you have power to them and know that is not the problem I expect the plastic bushing have worn lop sided. When our Monaco steps stopped working I found that by pushing in on the steps while they were trying to close they would work a while longer. When I got home I took the 12 volt motor off and replaced the bushings. Worked like a charm after replacing.
