Double Pane Window Shattered

All Wise and Knowing Wizards of the RV Kingdom,

Went to do some work on the coach this morning, and when I went inside noticed that one of my side windows is completely shattered. Can't be that something struck it from the outside, because the outside window is fine. Only the inside pane is shattered. Any idea what could have caused this? The coach has been sitting in front of my garage for a week or so, since I'm getting it ready for a planned trip in a few weeks.
Also, I just removed the shattered inner pane. No problems driving or camping in it for awhile till I get it replaced?

  • :) learning something new every day......guess I'm not the old dog I thought I was....:)
  • It could cause excess temperature and pressure to build up between the panes and cause one to fail. If window film is applies to dual pane windows, it must be applied to the outside pane, which requires the window panes to be disassembled.
  • Yes, it does, that is why NO company will guarantee any dual pane window that has film installed on the "inside".

    Positive: It won't fog up ! ....:B:B:B

It won't hurt anything. If you had your A/C on and outside temps got to it, it could shatter it..or simply the high temps of the outside pane vs the inside pane....fix it when it's convenient....Dennis
    What he said. I agree.
  • Suncoast Glass in Hudson, will repair it and give you a 5 year warranty. There may have been some moisture between the panes and the heat caused it to expand. The inside, which is the weakest side, shattered.
