Fellows pnichols and carringb,
I don't raise RPMs anywhere near "Red-Line" on the tachometer going up inclines using the throttle.
It's when going down-hill. I get close to red-line when engine braking going down long decents in lower gears. I apply the brake before hitting red-line. If I didn't, the tachometer would be in the red zone.

Yes I always use full synthetic 5W-20 motor oil....exclusively Mobil One since the second oil change.
