It would sit in 6th at 110 km/hr. Now, a lighter trailer, at 100km/hr it is hunting.
So, excuse me if I take issue with someone saying "just don't use the top gear".
Which is why, yes, until I get it checked out, I will tow in 5th. However, this does not mean I should.
Duhhhh --- try going 110kph and bring the revs up into more of a power zone for that engine. Hunting will probably stop!!
After reading just half of this thread I'm convinced that Swimmer is COMPLETELY unclear on the concept of torque/horsepower curves, gearing, and modern transmissions and programming. It's also pretty obvious that he/she does not want the answer to his/her question rather he/she just wants to complain about something he/she knows nothing about. Also, quit insisting on your trailer being 3000# and go look at the specs on it. Closer to 5000# loaded with full tanks.
My advise (in addition to the above) is to immediately return the truck to the dealer for faulty muffler bearings and insist on a full refund.
My 2 cents
Can I give you a full refund?
I am a 30+ year old male.
I understand about torque curves. I also want to be as fuel efficient as possible. Gas around here is over $1 a litre.(for you Americans, that's about $4 a gallon.)
The max speed limit is 100km/hr. Doing 110 might get me a ticket. Having said that, maybe a little faster is in the cards. But then I would be complaining that it wont shift to 6th ever.
The registered weight is just under 1300kgs. That means I cannot legally have more than that weight in that trailer. When it was hunting, all my tanks were empty.
I am still learning how to safely tow. I do not want to do damage to anything. Now I know why, and know what I need to do.
But, since you and others like to mock someone, go for it. Like I said, after page 2, I got my answers. now at page 15, I am just bored.
