BTW - once the breathing is freed up on the V10, it actually sounds good at high RPMS. Especially in tunnels!
Hmmmm ... I've always wondered what the Ford V10 would sound like if one was to unbridle it similar to that V10 in the Viper. After all, a V10 is only two cylinders away from Ferarri's 12 cylinders and we all know what those sound like at high RPM.
My Class C V10 is nowhere near sounding at high RPM like I wish it sounded. But what it DOES DO is idle very quietly and vibration-free - much quieter than any generator - so I occasionally top up our RV battery bank with it when in the rare no-generator campsite we might find ourselves in. However, we try not to camp in organized campgrounds ... whether full-hookup, generators permitted, or no-generators.
Unfortunately the firing order of V10s don't let them sound near as nice as a Ferrari or Jag V12. I've heard them all in racing form. The Group 44 Jag IMSA prototypes had an uncanny shriek to them. Viper V-10s just sound like another big bore engine...yeah I'm off topic.
