I am concerned of Red-Lining in low gear "COASTING DOWN HILL" with my foot covering the brake pedal. Not using the throttle at all, the opposite of WOT. I would assume coasting in low gear at 8000-9000 rpms is a very bad idea. Something is bound to fail regardless of the type of oil used....right?
I understood your point. My was that you can't do that. The computer will upshift on its own if you try to over-rev it (but obviously it can't upshift anymore in top gear). Likewise, it won't let you select too low a gear either. If you drop it into 1st on the freeway, it will sequentially downshift as you slow down as it can safely make each shift. I do this a lot when I'm driving Ford diesels because they need all the engine-braking help you can give-em, since they don't engine-brake near as well as the V10.
