Here we go again!! I designed engines for 35 years. ALL repeat, all other things being equal the engine with the most HORSEPOWER not torque will accelerate faster. If you do not believe me Goggle "acceleration horsepower". you will see the inputs are Horsepower, not torque and weight. Yes these formulas apply to all moving vehicles including MH's
Go to a drag strip and how may people are talking about HP not torque.
Now of course the more torque engine has the more horsepower it has by the formula HP= torque X RPM/5252. Gas engines tend to run at higher RPM, diesel engines tend to have more torque to get the same HP
One point I must make is that DP's often weight MUCH more than gas MH's. That is why my 340 HP, 24,000 pound gas MH will our accelerate my friends 350HP 33,000 pound DP any day of the week.
