Driving with air conditioner

We use the roof ACs whenever it gets warm. We often travel 5-600 miles daily if we're just going through and have a long ways to our destination.

Almost never run the dash air. If it's warm, I fire up the generator and run house A/C. If it's really hot, I run both rooftop units.

Only run the roof air when really hot 95+ degrees. If we are in a city area we leve at 9am and off the road by 3pm. Whn on vacation I try to limit actual drive time to 6 hours.

In scenic areas we may break camp early say 6 am and drive to a scenic point and pull over and eat breakfast.

Yes, we have run the roof air with the generator in really hot weather when just the dash air didn't cool enough.

We always run our dash air only, it cools us fine even in the desert southwest in the summer. I get the same mileage with or without the air. No way it is as cheap to run the genset as it is to run the dash air. I have no overheating problems so the dash air works fine.

I leave the heat in Phoenix and go up in the moutains or to the Ore. coast. It has a very big A/C there.

We certainly will use the roof air if the outside temp is about 95 degrees or more. Otherwise, the dash air can handle keeping us cool up front. Like another poster said, it's nice to arrive to your destination with the coach all ready cooled off.

We use our coach at all times of the year but we don't gravitate where the temp is extremely cold. We have never had to winterize our coach.

I thought everybody did and still can't figure out why they have dash air in these coaches. Maybe so as to block good fresh air to the radiator comes to mind and you'd be better off using this condenser to to cool your tranny oil. Not to mention, they use about as much gasoline (speaking gas rigs here) as your gen set, so by the time you subtract a little propane for the fridge, you're ahead and more comfortable.
Most of the time we're not trying to make it anywhere in any given time, so with that in mind, we go between 150 and 200miles a day. Leave late morning and stop in early afternoon for bike riding and sightseeing, not to mention we keep our speed down to just over 50mph so as to actually see where we're going, saving some fuel and the running gear.
