E350 cost for front brakes?

My 2003 E-350 has 76K on the brakes, mostly highway driving. They still had 60% left back at 60K. Getting a squeal at slow speed braking. What is a fair price for pads and turning the rotors?
  • What type of noise is it? Rhythmic, or constant? During braking only, or all the time? Have you checked to make sure the shims haven't wandered into the rotor?

First, you should turn the rotors ONLY if they really show signs of needing it.

Second, it is impossible to get a "good" answer to a question like this unless someone replies with the same model "truck" and who lives in the same town.

The "fair price" varies a LOT from place to place.

Rotors should also be turned any time the pads are replaced to allow for proper bedding and reduce chances of noise.

Due to the age of your coach, I highly recommend new calipers, to prevent caliper stocking problems later.

My preferred pad is the NAPA ultra premium. They tested the best of all pads on the Michigan State police tests. They are not cheap. Retail is $115 but they have sale often, and if you have AAA there's a discount there.

Unless the seals show signs of wear or the bore is scored, I'd recommend just making sure the pins (assuming E350 uses a sliding caliper) are greased and in good order.

NAPA UPs are good pads though. Low dust.
  • In Milton Fl I had rotors turned ,repack bearings and all new seals new pads for 200.00 and change
  • On my 2000 E450 based Class C the local Independent trucking center replaced all pads, replaced two bad calipers, turned the rotors and repacked the bearing for $500.00 including tax.
  • I had my front brake pads replaced, rotors turned, and one new bearing on right front. About $550 is what they soaked me on our C.

  • Pads? 75 dollars or less for decent stuff. Unless there is an issue rotors could be good. If you choose turning, maybe 35 dollars each. But dont forget new seals and a bearing pack.
