I hear you Norm. Splintered the 2x4 I was hitting with a sledge and the inner duals wouldn't let go. I had a 3-ft piece of 4x6 pressure treated post that I used like a battering ram and jarred them loose. Very glad I got into this at home, RV sitting on stands on a concrete pad, instead of some roadside trying to change a flat on an inner dual.
The fronts were stuck, but I could knock them loose with the heel of my boot, sitting on the ground next to the wheel. The outer duals took a few whacks with the battering ram. The inner duals took a lot of all-out battering.
OK I confess, learned the threaded hole trick on our Jap vehicles.
