Early 2000's Fleetwood Expedition

The engine number is: 56698203 so I am thinking that it is not a 53 block.

There were still some of those models with the famous #53 block engines out there until after 2002. Have an expert inspect it so see it has a #53 block engine. If it does I would recommend to run away from it.;)

I have exactly the same model he is looking at. I bought it used 11 years ago and have fulltimed in it for those 11 years.
The good? Fuel mileage will be better than a lot of other MH's. Its dependable and has cost me little money in upkeep/repairs. I did my own oil change/lube for about 9 of those years, now I do the lube but leave the oil change to a facility.
Make sure that the radiator is clean on the outside. That engine has a slobber tube that dumps fumes directly into the radiator and will cause overheating. Most RV's that age will have already had the slobber tube lengthened and that cures that problem.
Its no powerhouse on the hills, It will be the last one up but also the last one to the fuel pump. Its 260 hp is adequate for highway speeds and grades. Bit 7% grades will of course bring you down to 30 mph but there isn't tham many of them around.
I have towed a Suzuki Grand Vitara for 10 of those years, 3200 lbs and it didn't have much effect on its power. I recently traded for a Chevy Equinox, 3900 lbs and I have to admit, I do feel the difference in weight but it still travels good. A bit slower from the stop light.
Make sure you check the date of the tires. Enjoy.

I have an 05 Expy with a 300hp CAT 860 FT LB Torque, Allison 3000
Its a 38. I would go newer and get more power.

I am a bit biased as I love my 99' Discover 36T. Functional floor plan, good storage, and well built. I would caution on the chassis. Some of the 2000 and 2001 Expeditions came with a leaf spring suspension in place of the air and can be a handful to drive down the freeway. Also with the 5 speed Allison you will limit your Toad/Trailer options.

I recently purchased a 2003 Expedition with the 300 HP Cummins. It had 20,600 miles and the last 9 years, the previous owner only put 4,000 miles on it.

In the weeks before I bought it, the previous owner replaced one A/C unit, the Inverter/Charger, and the batteries.

My first trip out, I had fuel delivery problems due to an inline fuel strainer that the previous owner did not know existed. Freightliner also did not know if the fuel strainer existed. It is an installed item by Cummins.

I "polished" the fuel by running it through an external pump and filter for 6 hours after adding a fuel additive and a biocide.

I changed the air cleaner filter and the two fuel filters myself and completed a 1,100 mile trip with no problems.

I also had a local truck service facility (owned by a personal family friend) service all fluids, lubricate, replace air drier, replace serpentine belt, and check all systems. The plastic radiator surge tank had spider web type cracks in it and was also replaced.

New tires and batteries is a plus if they are quality items.

Make sure all systems function and have recent required service - such as the generator, filters, serpentine belt, etc.

Maintenance items are not cheap.
