X2.
The RGV did not come as it was advertised for us either :M. Took a lot of time and effort to get there at $4/gallon only to be in a low economy city environment. Once there we felt compelled to spend the coldest winter months given fuel costs and the distance and time to I10 then east or west. :R
Good news is Texas is a big state and can offer something for just about everyone if they're willing to work at it. If you're a mobile RV'er then a slow trip down the Gulf to the RGV (Jan/Feb)then up into Hill Country for spring bloom makes for a nice trip and overview. - pasco1215ExplorerCheck out Winter Haven Resort, close to everything and one of the best in the area.
- TripalotExplorerA word of caution if you have never been to the RGV. On our first trip to the Valley we stayed in Harlingen and were so disappointed as we pictured the c.g. to be in some sort of idyllic valley. There is no valley anywhere near! We did come to like the area regardless of it not meeting our original expectations.
- John_JoeyExplorerHaven't been in that park, but from where it is located it should be in a safe area of the RGV. Very nice little airport is just north, one of the better hospitals is close by, and there are many places to eat and shop around there. A nice mall is south of there.
If you've never been to the RGV, you picked a good location to venture out from and explore. Remember the Valley isn't for everyone, so keep that in mind when you book (i.e. length of time.) - golfman_1ExplorerLook at Tropic Winds park in Harlingen, We have stay here for 10 years and really like the park.
- TripalotExplorerWe have not stayed at that particular park in Harlingen. What were your reasons for choosing it? Location, amenities, activity program, price ? ? ?
Knowing what you like, might help others offer alternatives.
