Easy fill up near Richmond

Next weekend we'll be doing the majority of our move to NC from MD. While I am used to driving the RV towing the car, DW is not. I will be towing our boat in my truck and my wife will be towing the car in a 16' moving truck. Richmond is about halfway and I was trying to find an easy place for us to both pull in and gas up. We'll be travelling via 95. I've tried google maps etc but haven't had much luck in mapping an easy place to get in and out of to put DW at ease.

Ideas?

Was at the east side of the interstate Flying J last Friday and RV pumps were not working. The Flying J on the west side of the interstate also has RV lines but don't know if the RV lane is open. Easy in and out. Since your headed south the west side is your best option. Regular is $1.99 a gallon at the moment.

If you are planning on taking I295 around Richmond the exit is from the left lane. In traffic it can be difficult to get over plus average speed is about 70 MPH.
  • For reasons I have never figured out, 95 is a strange interstate. All of the interchanges are HUGE swirling cloverleafs and ramps that require you travel a mile or more from the interstate to get to a gas station, and there are few gas stations if you look at Google maps up close at each one. I did see a Travel America at exit 89 north of Richmond at the Hanover County Airport, but quite frankly, I'm used to Pilots, Loves or Flying J at darn near every interchange, thats what we have down here in Georgia.

  • I'm not familiar with the area but, look for a Flying J or Pilot Truck Stop. Many of them have RV islands. It will be easy access/egress.
